I started my first job in Veterinary Practice in 1997 at the age of 18 following completion of an NVQ in Animal Care and some time in Art College. I stayed in the same practice until 2017, having had 2 children and qualifying as an RVN in 2004 and progressing to Head Nurse in 2010.During this time, I gained some additional experience in a large hospital in Hemel Hempstead as a weekend out-of-hours nurse but found I really enjoy working in smaller, more family-orientated practices where you can really get to know your patients and their owners and provide that 'home from home' care.
In October 2017, I moved to Westwood Vets working as an RVN, mostly in theatre/inpatients and some consultations. My main interests are in wound management and providing a high level of inpatient care for both surgical and medical patients and I also enjoy consulting.
Out of work, the children keep me busy with an array of pets - currently standing at a 10-year-old Jack Russell Terrier cross dog, two cats, two rabbits, several tropical fish and two ponies.I enjoy horse riding and helping my 9-year-old daughter train her Shetland pony, walks in the countryside, eating out and reading (when I get the chance!)
