Laparoscopic Spays

We offer laparoscopic bitch spays at our Boston Spa practice.

Laparoscopic (or keyhole) spaying, is a minimally invasive procedure.  It involves making two small incisions into the abdomen, through which an endoscopic camera and surgical instruments are placed to allow removal of the ovaries.

Due to the smaller incisions, bitches that are spayed this way are generally much more comfortable post-operatively and get back to their normal exercise quicker than a traditional bitch spay.

We recommend that they are kept quiet for 48 hours post-op, after which they will have an appointment to check the incision sites, and can then get back to normal activity.

Laparoscopy can also be utilised for a number of other procedures - such as removal of abdominally retained testicles or biopsies of abdominal masses.

Feel free to contact the surgery if you would like to discuss this further.
